The Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival is back and better than ever, taking place on the beautiful Sunshine Coast from March 10th to 12th, 2023. As a feature event on the Australian Triathlon Calendar for over 20 years, the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival is a must-see event for triathletes and enthusiasts alike.
The festival offers three great races in one stunning beach town, all starting and finishing within the sound of the waves on the Mooloolaba Esplanade. The main event, the 2023 Mooloolaba Triathlon, is the National Championship Standard Distance Triathlon for Age Group Athletes. This is your chance to become an Australian National Champion and represent your country at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final. The 2023 Mooloolaba Triathlon also offers double points towards qualifying for the 2023 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final, but you must compete in the Age Group category to qualify for these points.

The festival offers a variety of options for all levels of athletes, including solo or relay teams. The main event, the National Championship Standard Distance Triathlon, includes a 1500m ‘flag’ shaped swim course that starts on the eastern end of Mooloolaba Main Beach. Athletes will swim in an anti-clockwise direction with the first turn buoy at 350 metres, with swimmers completing two left-hand turns before returning to shore. The bike course takes place on the closed-off Sunshine Coast Motorway, providing a unique and fast experience. The run course is a two-lap course that takes in some of the most scenic coastal views of the Sunshine Coast.
The sprint triathlon is a great option for beginners or experienced athletes, with a 750m swim, 20km cycle, and 5km run. The swim course, located on the eastern end of Mooloolaba Main Beach, is a ‘flag’ shaped course that runs in an anti-clockwise direction with the first turn buoy at 350 metres, with swimmers completing two left-hand turns before returning to shore. The bike course includes three laps up and over Alexander Headlands, and the run course is a one-lap course that takes in some of the most scenic coastal views of the Sunshine Coast.
Spectators should be aware that parking close to the event is limited, with designated all-day parking locations in Mooloolaba such as the Mooloolaba State Primary School. These parking venues will be within walking distance of the event.
